Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Internet Application?

Signing the internet application is a contractual agreement stating that you will be purchasing internet service from Starwire Technologies. It also grants Starwire permission to install a fiber optic cable through your property connecting your home, cabin, or business to our mainline.

What is an Underground Release Form?

This document is to indicate to our team where you have buried obstacles on your property. Any private obstacles will need to be marked and exposed, if necessary, by the homeowner.

How long will it take?

Building a fiber network is a multi-step process. During construction, the fiber crew will work on installing mainline fiber, handholes, marking posts, and drops. As the weather cooperates, our crews will be out working to get this project completed as soon as possible. When the splicing is complete, we can proceed to install the internet into your location.

What are the steps to get online?
  1. Submit a completed Internet Application and pay any applicable drop fee for construction (if applicable). This application is a contractual agreement stating that you will be purchasing internet service from Starwire Technologies. It also grants Starwire permission to install a fiber optic cable through your property connecting your home, cabin, or business to our mainline.
  2. Starwire will mark the proposed route for the drop to your location from our mainline with white flags. You will need to fill out an Underground Release Form to indicate where you may have buried obstacles on your property. Any private lines are to be marked by the homeowner. We will then call Diggers Hotline to mark the public utilities.
  3. After the drop construction and splicing is complete, we can proceed to install the internet into your location.
  4. One of our team members will reach out to set up an installation date for our tech to come out and install internet service into your location.
What is a Drop?

The drop is a small fiber-optic cable that links your location to our fiber mainline. The drop gets installed after the mainline is installed. A member of the fiber crew will place white flags in the proposed fiber route. At that time they will leave an Underground Release form — use this document to indicate to our team where you have buried obstacles on your property. Any private obstacles will need to be marked and exposed, if necessary, by the homeowner. We will then run a small fiber optic cable from the nearest handhole, through your property, and install it into a fiber enclosure on the side of your building.

Construction Restoration

Starwire will install our mainline fiber optic cable, handholes, and marking posts in the legal road right-of-way. During the construction, we will make our best efforts to return disturbed areas to their original state. Our crew is small but mighty. Their work is often dependent on weather, ground conditions, and other unforeseen earthly tricks, but rest assured, we’ll be back for restoration to take place.

How is the internet installed in my location?

We install the internet by running an Ethernet cable from the outside fiber enclosure into your location. We then plug that Ethernet cable into a small power supply, and from the power supply an additional Ethernet cable is plugged into your network or wireless router. Once this is finished you are ready to enjoy your new fast, reliable internet service.

What is Splicing?

There are many small strands of glass fibers in our mainline and each fiber needs to be fused together in order for the internet service to become live.

What if I don’t want service right now?

That’s okay. If you choose not to sign up with internet service now, just give us a call when you are ready. We will get you on the schedule to build the drop to your location at that time. This may cause delays depending on ground conditions and weather.

How It Works

Step 1

Submit Your Application

Complete and submit an Internet Application. This starts the process for us to install fiber optic cable through your property connecting your home, cabin, or business to our mainline, and confirms your intent to purchase service. We will work with you on the best route and let you know what the construction fees for the drop will be (if applicable).

Step 2

Flag the Route

Starwire will flag the route from our mainline to your location. You will then fill out an Underground Release form to indicate where you may have buried obstacles. Any private lines are to be marked by the homeowner. We will then call Diggers Hotline to mark public utilities.

Step 3

Splicing & Activation

After the drop and splicing is completed, the fiber optic cable is now live. One of our team members will reach out to schedule an installation date for our tech to come out and complete your service installation.
